Welcome to Manitoba Crafts Council

The Manitoba Crafts Council (MCC) is a provincial non-profit organization established in 1978  to market and promote Contemporary Fine Craft and the ensure that Manitoba Craft producers will be recognized for the significant  contribution craft makes to the cultural and economic life of our province.

The Manitoba Crafts Council is primarily a professional development organization assisting Manitoba craft artisans build their reputations, profiles and renown. This purpose is achieved by our work representing Contemporary Fine Craft Artisans from Manitoba, fostering excellence in Manitoba Craft through our member and public services, advocacy, education and promotion. The Manitoba Craft Council plays an important role in promoting individual craft artisans and in building contemporary fine craft into a recognized economic force for Manitoba.

Through our representation of more than 350  juried, fine craft producers MCC ensures that collectors, the general public, students and other galleries and museums have one point access to these unique one of a kind works of modern craft and decorative art.

MCC also encourages new and emerging craft artisans to forward their work to this level of excellence by offering workshops, exhibition opportunities and funding further education with our bursary program. MCC has several award programs and is the nominator for annual  national and provincial awards such as the Manitoba Arts Council Award for Excellence, the Samuel and Saidye Bronfman Award for Excellence in Craft and the  Governor  General's Award.

MCC utilizes markets, exhibits and other activities to promote the work of its members locally, nationally and internationally. MCC Gallery Salesroom was opened in 1986 as a consignment gallery, featuring the work of juried members for sale in the shop and online via email.

MCC encourages an attitude of exploration, creative inspiration and excellence among professional craft producers in Manitoba and seeks to develop an understanding of excellence in craftsmanship among the public.
